Auschwitz-Birkenau Guided Tour from Kraków

Visit Auschwitz-Birkenau, the former Nazi concentration and extermination camp, one of the most significant memorial sites in the world and a powerful symbol of the Holocaust.

Located in Oświęcim, around 60 km west of Kraków, Auschwitz-Birkenau was the largest concentration camp established by Nazi Germany during World War II. Between 1940 and 1945, approximately 1.1 million people were murdered there, most of them Jewish, but also Poles, Roma, and prisoners of other nationalities.

After the war, the site was preserved as a memorial and museum to honour the victims and to ensure that the history of the Holocaust is never forgotten. Today, Auschwitz-Birkenau is a UNESCO World Heritage Site visited by over 2 million people each year.

Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial and Museum

The Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial and Museum preserves original camp buildings, barracks, watchtowers, railway tracks and exhibitions that document the everyday lives and suffering of prisoners.

Visitors can see authentic personal belongings such as shoes, suitcases and everyday objects, which serve as a powerful reminder of the scale of the tragedy that took place here.

Although visiting Auschwitz-Birkenau can be an emotional and difficult experience, it is widely regarded as one of the most important historical sites to visit while staying in Kraków.

What to Expect During the Tour

All tours are conducted with authorized museum guides who introduce visitors to the history of the camp and explain the rules in force at the memorial.

The visit covers both Auschwitz I and Birkenau, allowing visitors to fully understand how the camp functioned and the scale of the crimes committed there.

Much of the tour takes place outdoors, so comfortable shoes and appropriate clothing are recommended.
