Wieliczka Salt Mine – UNESCO World Heritage Site

The Wieliczka Salt Mine was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List thanks to its breathtaking underground architecture and historical value. The tourist route leads through beautifully decorated chambers, lakes and tunnels, including the famous St. Kinga’s Chapel, carved entirely from salt.

The mine attracts over one million visitors each year and is considered one of the most popular day trips from Kraków.

What to Expect During the Visit

During the guided tour, you will descend deep underground and explore a well-prepared walking route that includes stairs, corridors and large chambers. The temperature underground stays between 14–16°C throughout the year, so warmer clothing and comfortable shoes are recommended.

Despite the depth, the tour ends with a lift that brings visitors back to the surface, ensuring a comfortable return.

Facilities such as restrooms and dining areas are available along the tourist route.
